Shortly before 1am on Tuesday 28 October 2025 a group of males armed with a firearm and other weapons caused extensive damage to a domestic residence in Rathkeale, Co Limerick. The perpetrators used implements believed to be slash hooks, sticks, iron bars and golf clubs. Gardaí confirmed receipt of a report of criminal damage at approximately 12:45am, stated that no injuries were reported and said investigations are ongoing. Local Fine Gael councillor Adam Teskey has repeatedly called for extra Garda resources for Rathkeale, saying previous requests have not been met. The town has experienced multiple recent violent incidents including arson, shootings and vehicle attacks.
