Girl, 11, dies after incident at river in Cornwall

Emergency services were called to Wacker Quay on the Lynher River near Torpoint, Cornwall, at about 6pm on Saturday after being alerted about a person in the water, police said. Officers said the girl, from South Devon, was recovered and given emergency treatment but was confirmed dead at the scene.
North Yorkshire police said a body had been recovered from the River Swale in Richmond at 10.45pm on Saturday during a search for a missing 12-year-old boy. Police launched a search after reports that the boy had entered the river at about 5pm.
