"I bumped into Olga in New York. It was a chance meeting and I asked her what I could do to help. She said the biggest impact you have is coming to Kyiv'. I had to check with my wife and the British government to make sure it was OK. Then the official invitation came."
Prince Harry made a surprise visit to Kyiv after an invitation from the Ukrainian government to support recovery of military personnel seriously injured in the three-year war with Russia. He traveled with a team from the Invictus Games Foundation to detail new initiatives that focus on rehabilitation through sport, with an eventual aim of providing help across the country. An earlier estimate put 130,000 people in Ukraine with permanent disabilities from the war, and the government has prioritized sport-based rehabilitation for veterans. The visit included engagement with the Superhumans Trauma Centre and plans to humanize and maintain public attention on the wounded.
