Russia's influx of war wounded has turned its prosthetics industry into a global leader, deputy defense minister says
"Today, the participants of the special military operation allowed us to reach a priority, flagship level. Because what our state does is much higher than the standards adopted elsewhere. We are leaders here. It's not China, it's not anywhere in Europe,"
"There is huge investment, huge amounts of money, huge opportunities that opened,"
"The participants of the special military operation have become, so to speak, the drivers of the development in this sphere, and we're accumulating experience on a global scale,"
Anna Tsivilyova, deputy defense minister and state secretary, said Russia achieved major breakthroughs in prosthetic development because of the war. She said domestic prosthetics now reach a priority, flagship level, surpassing standards in China and Europe. She attributed the industry's progress to huge investment and new opportunities. Tsivilyova said participants of the special military operation became the drivers of development and that Russia is accumulating global-scale experience. She stated that before the war 11.5 million Russians needing prosthetics or treatment were not receiving help, and that situation has now changed. She also said Russia provides rehabilitation for soldiers who turned blind.
