Showjumping chief asks ministers to remove 'biased' executives from selection panel
"Given that Mr Duggan has publicly issued false and damaging claims regarding my professional actions and integrity, it is impossible for him to act impartially or credibly in any process assessing my suitability for reappointment as chef d'equipe. Any involvement by him in that process would therefore constitute a serious conflict of interest and a breach of fair-procedure principles under both the Sport Ireland code of governance for sport and HSI's own conduct policy."
"My objective in writing is not to seek favour but to ensure a fair and transparent process for the good of the sport," Blake wrote."
Michael Blake's contract as chef d'equipe expired this month. Horse Sport Ireland (HSI) appointed a four-person panel to select the new manager for the Irish team for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, with CEO Denis Duggan and COO Avalon Everett comprising half the panel. HSI has faced criticism over perceived lack of expertise among panel members. Duggan previously criticised Blake's management, a criticism Blake rejected. Blake intends to apply for the position but alleges Duggan publicly made false and damaging claims, argues Duggan cannot act impartially, and has requested both executives recuse themselves to ensure a fair, transparent appointment process.
