Teenager appears in court charged with murder of Tipperary man Ian Walsh

Nathan Hanlon, of Castle View, Ballyneale, Carrick-on-Suir, Co Tipperary, appeared in Clonmel charged with murdering Ian Walsh at a residence in Ravenswood, Cregg Road, on Saturday, August 2. Sgt Denis Ryan of Clonmel Garda Station gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution. Mr Hanlon was arrested at his address on Wednesday morning, August 20 on suspicion of murder and was charged at about 3.30pm on Thursday. When charged, he made no reply. Judge Miriam Walsh directed that a psychological assessment be carried out and granted legal aid to defence solicitor John Joy. Mr Hanlon was remanded in custody to appear before Clonmel Court in person on Tuesday, August 26 at 3pm.
