Van Cleef & Arpels' "Dance Reflections" Bridges the Past and the Future of Dance
"With 'Dance Reflections,' the idea was to give back concretely to another discipline that still gives us a lot. It's the reason why 'Dance Reflections' is a sponsorship program, but also a curatorial program; that's quite rare for a brand to have."
"The initiative operates year-round, financially backing companies and individual artists, partnering with major institutions, re-staging landmark works, commissioning new ones, and investing in education and transmission. And, importantly, it also stages multi-week festivals, which have happened in New York, Seoul, and London."
"The program moves deliberately between revivals and premieres in a way that is designed to place choreographic heritage in direct conversation with contemporary creation."
Van Cleef & Arpels has a longstanding connection to dance, beginning with its iconic dancer pins and deepening through a 1967 collaboration with George Balanchine that created the abstract ballet Jewels. The maison launched Dance Reflections in 2019, a comprehensive program supporting dance as a living art form through financial backing, institutional partnerships, restaging landmark works, commissioning new pieces, and educational initiatives. The program stages multi-week festivals in major cities including New York, Seoul, and London. This year's New York edition runs through March 21, featuring sixteen performances across eight venues including New York City Center, BAM, and the Park Avenue Armory, deliberately balancing choreographic revivals with contemporary premieres.
