"I want the future of AI to be made in Europe. Because when AI is used, we can find smarter, faster, and more affordable solutions."
"AI adoption needs to be widespread, and with these strategies, we will help speed up the process. Putting AI first also means putting safety first. We will drive this ' AI first' mindset across all our key sectors, from robotics to healthcare, energy, and automotive."
"With the Apply AI Strategy, we will help our companies and key sectors, from manufacturing to healthcare and the public sector, use AI to deliver real benefits for EU citizens, reinforce our competitiveness, and strengthen our technological sovereignty."
The European Commission announced two strategies, Apply AI and AI in Science, to boost domestic AI innovation, adoption, and research. The EU is committing more than €1 billion to support these initiatives and accelerate AI use across key industries and the public sector. Apply AI focuses on speeding uptake in sectors like manufacturing, healthcare, energy, automotive, and public services, while AI in Science targets research and scientific applications. The plans emphasize widespread adoption, safety-first principles, reduced regulatory burdens, strengthened competitiveness, and digital sovereignty through infrastructure and sovereign cloud efforts to keep data and R&D in Europe.
