Social media platform X refused an invitation to appear before an Oireachtas Committee next month. Senior X executives met AI minister Niamh Smyth prior to the refusal. The move has been described as "deeply concerning." Ms Smyth said "concerns remain" regarding X's AI tool Grok as a standalone app following her meeting with X representatives. The meeting addressed X's response to ongoing concerns that the tool was used to AI-generate sexualised deepfake images, including child sexual abuse material. Questions persist about Grok's safety and the platform's handling of the allegations.
