Yana Santos Calls for Harsher Penalties After Chiasson Weight Miss
"No single person come to me and say sorry,"
"No one asked me if I want to fight or not. After fight I came to her and say that you should at least say sorry."
"She told me 'you got paid for this'. Why complain? I (don't) fight for money. It's nice to get paid, but I (don't) fight for money,"
"I feel like UFC not give enough punishment for fighter who missed weight. I think it's the biggest reason why a lot of people miss weight."
Yana Santos (17-8) secured a win at UFC 320 but remained frustrated because opponent Macy Chiasson missed weight before the bout. No one from Chiasson’s camp apologized or asked whether Santos still wanted to fight. After the fight Santos approached Chiasson and requested an apology; Chiasson reportedly replied, "you got paid for this." Santos emphasized that she does not fight for money and criticized the UFC for not imposing strong enough penalties on fighters who miss weight, arguing that insufficient punishment encourages repeated weight misses across the sport.
