Alonzo Menifield adjusted to the time difference in Macau, China, ahead of his co-main event fight with Zhang Mingyang. Menifield entered the bout after a two-fight win streak ended with a loss to Volkan Oezdemir. Zhang also came off a defeat, a leg kick TKO. Menifield focused on Zhang’s strengths beyond the previous finish, emphasizing countering and how Zhang stays in and out of pockets. Menifield said opportunity exists in many forms and expressed excitement for the fight. He described himself as a veteran but insisted every fight is dangerous, with both fighters in a grinder mindset. He predicted he would catch Zhang when Zhang comes forward and otherwise expects a high-level show.
"I think he's fierce, aggressive, and I want to match it,"
"a fight is a fight. We move forward. So I'm looking at what he's good at, which is countering, and seeing how he stays in pockets, or outside."
"I guess so. I've been here a long time, I think that's a blessing. With that said, every fight is dangerous. I don't put me above him. I put me right there. He's in the grinder, I'm in the grinder. That's my mindset."
"He comes out, doing him, I catch him. He goes away. Other than that, if he doesn't go away, let's put on a hell of a show. That's it."
