Paddy Pimblett will fight Justin Gaethje for the interim UFC lightweight title in the main event at UFC 324 in Las Vegas. Ilia Topuria, the lightweight champion, is taking a short hiatus for personal reasons and expects to return between April and June to unify the title. Pimblett says he will not accept an April unifier even if he wins and intends to wait until June or July as payback for having been made to wait. Pimblett recognizes Gaethje as a steep step up and holds a 23-3 record with notable wins over Bobby Green and Michael Chandler.
