PFL's Alexander Shabliy Hit With Six-Month Ban by USADA
Briefly

Alexander Shabliy, following his recent bout against Usman Nurmagomedov for the Bellator lightweight championship, has received a six-month suspension from USADA after testing positive for recombinant erythropoietin (rEPO). While rEPO is banned, USADA concluded that Shabliy's substance use was unintentional, largely due to his cooperation in the investigation. His suspension began on March 19, 2025, the date of the positive sample collection. Shabliy, a prominent fighter, previously excelled in Bellator and has a record of 24-4, showcasing his significant presence in lightweight MMA circles.
In this case, USADA's investigation yielded information suggesting Shabliy's use was not deliberate, and Shabliy provided valuable cooperation regarding the individual who administered the EPO.
The drug is administered intravenously; Cageside Press has reached out to USADA to clarify the circumstances of Shabliy's case.
