"Apple launched the iPhone 16e in February as its new cheapest device, but the lower price brought with it a ton of compromises, including the lack of MagSafe. Wireless charging is built-in, but with no magnets, Android-style. If you've been baffled by the decision to forgo this feature, there's some good news for the future. According to a new report, the iPhone 17e, expected in early 2026, will bring MagSafe support."
"The iPhone 17e is also said to have Apple's second-generation C1X cellular modem, which made its debut in the iPhone Air this September (the iPhone 16e has the older C1). Past rumors have told us that the iPhone 17e's screen will be identical to its predecessor's, but will have thinner bezels. The iPhone 17e is reportedly getting the 18MP selfie camera that features in all of the other iPhone 17 family members."
iPhone 17e is expected in early 2026 and will add MagSafe support previously absent from the cheaper iPhone 16e. The device will adopt Apple's second-generation C1X cellular modem, replacing the iPhone 16e's older C1. The screen design will remain largely identical but will gain thinner bezels. The front camera will be upgraded to an 18MP selfie sensor found across the iPhone 17 family. The phone should be powered by the A19 chip used in the iPhone 17. The rear camera array will most likely remain a single 48MP sensor.
