'No excuses' - Matteo Jorgenson loses 10 minutes on a 'really bad day' at the Tour de France
Briefly

Matteo Jorgenson experienced a challenging stage 12 of the Tour de France, losing ten minutes and dropping from fifth to tenth overall. He struggled during the 180.6km race, which included the summit finish at Hautacam. After falling back on the Col de Soulor, he failed to keep pace on the Col des Bordères and finished in 15th place. Jorgenson acknowledged it was a bad day, accepting responsibility for his performance, and chose to step back from the general classification to better support his team leader, Jonas Vingegaard, in upcoming stages.
"Personally, I have no excuses. I just had a really bad day. I knew it from the start already," Jorgenson told WielerFlits among the media scrum after the stage.
"I already went full to make it in the front on the first climb, which turned out to be a mistake in the end. But you only know when you try. The last climb, I was completely empty."
"I figured it was better to just disconnect from GC because I'm no use to Jonas anymore if I'm just minutes behind," Jorgenson said.
"For sure, we'll keep trying. We'll have to reassess and go forward."
