Xiaomi, Oppo, vivo and OnePlus are rumored to be exploring the idea of Android without Google
Briefly

As President Trump resumes office and reignites a trade conflict with China, Chinese smartphone manufacturers, including Xiaomi, Oppo, vivo, and OnePlus, are reportedly considering alternatives to Android in response to potential restrictions akin to those faced by Huawei. The emergence of HarmonyOS has prompted these companies to explore a collaborative project, possibly revolving around HyperOS 3. The future of their app compatibility remains uncertain, especially whether they would integrate features from Huawei's ecosystem. Given their market share, this shift could significantly affect the global smartphone landscape.
During President Trump's first term, American companies were forbidden from working with Huawei, which effectively cut off its access to the Play Store and services.
Huawei went as far as removing Android app compatibility from its platform. Would Xiaomi and company do the same - and will they adopt Huawei's Ark Compiler, Petal Maps, etc.?
Xiaomi, Oppo, vivo and OnePlus along with Huawei are allegedly exploring building a Google-free version of Android.
These companies accounted for two-thirds of smartphones shipped in China in Q1 this year. While Huawei lost its global dominance, Xiaomi, vivo and Oppo are in the Top 5 globally.
