Arlo Parks Announces New Album Ambiguous Desire, Shares "2SIDED"
"I danced more than ever as I made this record, I made more friends than ever too, found myself in the weird underbelly of New York juke nights, unleashed, laughed and laughed and laughed,"
"This record has desire at its center. Desire is a life force, it's a wanting, a yearning, a momentum - we are all alive because there is something or someone we want - desire is an engine. But it is also mysterious, tangled, random, enlightening, and HUMAN."
"At its core, '2SIDED' is about yearning and tension,"
"It's about being struck by a bolt of desire and building up the courage to put language to that feeling, to make it real."
Ambiguous Desire will arrive April 3 via Transgressive Records as Arlo Parks' third full-length album, following Collapsed in Sunbeams (2021) and My Soft Machine (2023). Production includes work from Baird (Brockhampton, Kevin Abstract). The record draws influence from The Streets, Burial, LCD Soundsystem, Theo Parrish, and New York City's Paradise Garage. The lead single '2SIDED' features synth and drum machine-led instrumentation and centers themes of yearning, tension, and desire. The album emphasizes dance, exploration of New York juke nights, and desire as a driving, mysterious, and human force. A music video for '2SIDED' is available and the album is available for pre-order.
