Barry Manilow reveals lung cancer diagnosis, will postpone January concerts
"Even though I was over the bronchitis and back on stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI just to make sure that everything was OK."
"[N]ow that the Christmas A Gift of Love concerts are over I'm going into surgery to have the spot removed,"
"So that's it. No chemo. No radiation. Just chicken soup and I Love Lucy reruns."
Barry Manilow has a cancerous spot on his left lung that will be surgically removed. A recent MRI detected the spot after prolonged bronchitis and relapse. Doctors currently do not believe the cancer has spread, and additional tests will be performed to confirm that assessment. No chemotherapy or radiation is planned; recovery from surgery is expected to take about a month. January arena concerts have been rescheduled to dates from late February through April, with ticketholders able to move to the new dates. Next scheduled performances include a Valentine’s Day weekend at the Westgate Las Vegas residency.
