After completing South Korea's mandatory military service, BTS are preparing a new, untitled LP due March 20 via Big Hit Entertainment. The record will be the group's fifth studio album and their first new album in six years, following their 2020 release. Recording began last July, and the group said they are approaching the album with the same mindset they had when they first started. BTS are also teasing a 2026 world tour to visit fans globally. Big Hit confirmed an "official extended period of rest" at the end of 2021, and the group released an anthology the following June. During the hiatus each member released solo projects including J-Hope's Jack in the Box (2022), RM's Indigo (2022), and Jimin's Face (2023), and members pursued onscreen work such as Disney+ appearances, a concert film, and a 2024 RM documentary.
