Kneecap released a music video for the new single "Sayōnara," produced in collaboration with Paul Hartnoll of Orbital and directed by Finn Keenan. Actress Jamie Lee O'Donnell stars in the video and praised the track, the video's intense yet euphoric tone, and the director's creativity. The group canceled a sold-out, 15-date United States tour because of Mo Chara's forthcoming court appearance in London related to an alleged display of a Hezbollah flag at a 2024 concert. Kneecap deny support for Hezbollah or Hamas. Four Canadian shows will proceed, and European dates remain scheduled.
Not only is it a massive banger of a track, but the intense yet euphoric video is sure to be remembered. The creativity and vision of director, Finn, created a fantastic environment for us all to create something really special. I was delighted to have been asked to be involved in this project especially as I am already a huge fan of Kneecap's music and an admirer of their work overall.
Last week, Kneecap were forced to cancel a sold-out, 15-date tour of the United States, due, they said, to Mo Chara's forthcoming court appearance in London. The highly contested terror charge relates to his alleged display of a Hezbollah flag at a 2024 concert; Kneecap have since said they do not support Hezbollah or Hamas. (The "Sayōnara" single artwork is adorned with the phrase "Free Mo Chara.") The group's four Canadian shows are set to go ahead, along with European dates.
