Lifelong Grateful Died Fan Died From Medical Emergency While Dancing at Sunday Night's Dead & Company Show
Briefly

Fred Cothard, a 54-year-old carpenter from Michigan, died during the first set of a Dead & Company concert in San Francisco. He was attending the band's 60th anniversary show with his partner and children. Cothard's last song was "I Know You Rider." His twin children have started a GoFundMe campaign for funeral expenses, expressing comfort that he was surrounded by his 'Dead family' during his final moments. Cothard was passionate about music and had a long history of attending concerts throughout the country.
Last weekend's Dead & Company shows in Golden Gate Park seemingly went off without a hitch. But we are now learning of a very sad footnote to the three-night set of shows.
Cothard was a carpenter from Michigan... He has apparently operated a company called Cothard Construction & Remodeling for around 30 years in the Michigan-Indiana area.
Even though this was sudden and we were not there with him, we take comfort in knowing that he was surrounded by thousands of his Dead family, and the music that he loved so much.
Most of Fred's personal life revolved around music and his deep love and passion for the Grateful Dead.
