Matt Cameron Leaves Pearl Jam After 27 Years as Drummer
Briefly

Matt Cameron has departed from Pearl Jam after 27 years as their drummer. He thanked the band members for welcoming him into the group in 1998 but did not disclose the reason for his exit. Cameron joined Pearl Jam after the band had cycled through several drummers and had already released five studio albums by then. His first album with them, Binaural, came out in 2000, and he played on all their albums up to Dark Matter, released in 2024. Cameron also has a significant history with Soundgarden, and he will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Soundgarden later this year.
"After 27 fantastic years, I have taken my final steps down the drum riser for the mighty Pearl Jam. Much love and respect to Jeff, Ed, Mike and Stone for inviting me into this incredible band in 1998, and for all the amazing experiences we shared over the years."
"Pearl Jam cycled through drummers before finding a steady presence in Matt Cameron, who joined the band in 1998 and played on all subsequent studio albums, including the recent Dark Matter released in 2024."
