Metal Church have returned with a revamped lineup retaining founding guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof and longtime guitarist Rick Van Zandt alongside new members David Ellefson (bass), Ken Mary (drums), and Brian Allen (vocals). The band released the single 'F.A.F.O.' and plans an as-yet-untitled album for 2026, with extensive touring already scheduled including three European festival dates in August. The new single is characterized as an aggressive thrash track expected to please fans. The band formed in San Francisco in 1980 and was signed to Elektra Records at the urging of Metallica's Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield. The group has released 13 albums, with 2023's Congregation of Annihilation as the most recent, and has suffered multiple tragic member deaths, including singer Mike Howe in 2021.
