Paz Lenchantin has announced her debut solo album titled Triste, set for release on October 17th. The lead single, "Hang Tough," features prominent musicians such as Josh Freese and Troy Van Leeuwen. The album is characterized by a fusion of Latin folk textures and American rock structures, with Lenchantin performing every instrument apart from the contributions from guest artists. Most of the songs were composed in Petatlán, Mexico, following her departure from the Pixies in early 2024. Chris Coady mixed the album, known for his work with notable bands.
"I had to make this record on my own - not to prove anything, but just to have faith that music can nurture me back," stated Lenchantin. "And it did."
The album blends "Latin folk textures with American rock structures", and features Lenchantin playing every instrument aside from the contributions from guest musicians.
Lenchantin wrote most of the songs in Petatlán, Mexico, where she spent her time after the Pixies parted ways with her in early 2024.
