Radiohead Just Set a London Concert Record
""a far more intimate and immersive experience than most corporate enormo-dome shows allow.""
""It's been a true honour to host them, and each night they played different set lists spanning their incredible back catalogue. These shows will be remembered for years to come,""
""Radiohead sounds older in the honest way, not the diminished way," Alvarez wrote. "The sharpness is still there, but the delivery is cleaner. It's more comfortable in its skin.""
London's O2 Arena has hosted major music acts for nearly 20 years, beginning with Bon Jovi in 2007. Radiohead completed a four-night residency at the venue, delivering varied set lists and performances described as intimate and immersive. The fourth night attracted 22,355 fans, breaking the venue's previous attendance record set by Metallica in 2017. Members of both bands contributed to film soundtracks this year, with Jonny Greenwood composing One Battle After Another and Lars Ulrich playing drums on Sinners. O2 Arena programming director Christian D'Acuna called hosting the shows an honour and said the performances will be remembered.
