"The first single is the alt rock-inspired "Dead End," which is accompanied by a video she directed with Elsie Richter. "We shot the video for 'Dead End' in random places all around rural North Carolina between the hours of 5pm and 4am on one of the coldest nights of my life," she says. "The goal was to be inconspicuous with the fireworks, but someone called the cops on us." Watch below."
Snail Mail announced her third album, Ricochet, due March 27 via Matador. She recorded the album with producer and bassist Aron Kobayashi Ritch of Momma, describing sessions as refreshing, trusting, and comfortable. She wrote all instrumentals and vocal melodies on piano or guitar, then completed the lyrics over a year. The first single, "Dead End," is alt rock–inspired and has a video she co-directed with Elsie Richter, shot around rural North Carolina late into a cold night. A spring North American tour begins April 10, with multiple opening acts and tickets on sale January 23 at 10 AM local time.
