Union Pool hosted Sun Ra Arkestra to close its annual Summer Thunder free show series on Sunday, August 24. The 16-member ensemble, still led by Marshall Allen, drew a line around the block on a beautiful day. The Arkestra performed two 70-minute sets at 3:30 PM and 5 PM to accommodate the crowd, with increasing attendance as the day progressed. The performance took place in an intimate venue setting that many described as a special treat. The group has additional fall dates, including performances in China, Paris, Mexico, Baltimore, and a Halloween show at Knockdown Center.
