Beard is Syd’s third solo album, arriving July 17 through Free Lunch/Warner Records. The album is her first project in four years, following 2022’s Broken Hearts Club and her 2017 debut Fin. Syd co-produced Beard and included contributions from Raphael Saadiq, Big Sean, Rodney Jerkins, James Fauntleroy, Van Hunt, Blu June, and Jordan Ward. Syd described Beard as a coming-of-age album and a snapshot of her current life. The title was inspired by peach fuzz on her upper lip, leading her to embrace confidence and rethink insecurity. She also connected the title to how she sees herself in the industry as “the bearded lady.” The lead single “Callin’,” featuring Blu June, is an R&B preview about unrequited love frustrations in a modern relationship.

""This is a coming of age album for me," Syd said in a press release. "It's a snapshot of what my life looks like right now." The Internet singer revealed that the album's title was inspired by the peach fuzz on her upper lip. "I fell in love with my peach fuzz and it made me rethink everything that was supposed to make me feel insecure," she said."
