The school where a piano legend is using technology to teach pupils
Briefly

Mandeville Primary School has established a groundbreaking digital piano lab that integrates traditional music teaching with modern technology. Supported by 20 high-tech digital pianos from the Lang Lang International Music Foundation, students engage in individual lessons using their own screens and headphones. The program runs over three years, allowing children to develop fundamental music skills effectively. With a focus on inclusivity, the lab provides opportunities for those unable to afford private lessons. The initiative is praised by music director James Moriarty and aims to instill a lifelong love for music among students.
Mandeville's music director James Moriarty stated, 'These are high-quality digital pianos, not just keyboards but a complete piano lab system and we are one of the first schools in the country to get one.'
Headteacher Marc Thompson noted, 'Many children cannot afford private music lessons. This software and the set-up ensures every child is getting an individual lesson while the whole class is being taught at the same time.'
Lang Lang emphasized, 'Music has the power to change lives. Bringing the best in music education together with technology opens doors to a lifelong love for music.'
Mandeville's new Piano Lab revolutionizes music education by providing state-of-the-art digital pianos, enabling personalized learning and fostering essential music skills for every child.
