An anti-immigration protest took place in Norwich days after seven Afghan men were charged with rape and child sexual abuse offences. Norfolk Police said the charges stem from an investigation into group-based child sexual exploitation in Norwich, involving offences alleged to have occurred between August 2023 and May 2025. The offences relate to two alleged victims who were aged in their early-to-mid teens at the time. Activists gathered outside Norwich City Hall, displaying a banner reading “stop importing, start deporting” and making speeches to a crowd of around 150 people. Police officers watched the demonstration, which drew some heckling from people who objected. Police stated none of the accused men lived in asylum hotels in Norfolk and none of the alleged offences happened in asylum hotels.
