Faith, power and missionary work: some highlights from Pope Leo XIV's first homily
Briefly

In his first homily as pontiff, Pope Leo XIV addressed the importance of faith, highlighting the ongoing challenge of witnessing the Gospel in a world that often views Christianity as outdated. He acknowledged the pressures of technology, money, and success which overshadow spiritual beliefs. Calling upon the cardinals, he encouraged recognition of the Lord's marvels and the dire need for a revival of faith, especially in environments where spiritual values are undermined and safety nets of human dignity are in jeopardy, fostering a mission to mend societal wounds.
I invite you to recognize the marvels that the Lord has done, the blessings that the Lord continues to pour out upon all of us.
In today's world, the Christian faith is considered something absurd, meant for the weak and unintelligent... precisely for this reason, they are the places where mission is urgently needed.
The lack of faith often carries with it tragedies such as the loss of meaning in life, the neglect of mercy, violations of human dignity.
Through the ministry of Peter, you have called me to carry that cross and to be blessed with that mission.
