The New York City Housing Authority has inaugurated its first dog park at Castle Hill Houses, providing a safe space for dogs and their owners. This initiative, driven by resident advocacy, includes an enclosed area for play, a doggie fountain, picnic areas, and pet waste stations. Resident Association President Jeanette Salcedo highlighted the collaborative nature of the project, emphasizing the community's role in the design. City Council Majority Leader Amanda FarÃas praised the park as an important step in empowering public housing residents and enhancing equity and community well-being.
We're excited to unveil the new park and community space, giving our residents and their furry friends a wonderful place to enjoy and socialize.
This project is a powerful example of what happens when NYCHA residents are not just heard, but empowered to lead.
