Protests outside a New Jersey detention center continued for over a week, during which ICE agents beat, pepper-sprayed, and assaulted immigrant rights activists and reporters while they tried to block DHS vehicles leaving the facility. State police used military tactics to disperse the crowd on Friday night. Saturday morning brought riot police back to separate dueling protesters, with a pro-Trump countergroup celebrating ICE. The counterdemonstrators wrapped flags around a newly built fence intended to prevent protesters from surrounding federal agents and held signs. ICE and HSI agents retreated further into the facility while local law enforcement controlled the situation. John Raftery, wearing a MAGA hat, said he viewed ICE, President Trump, and America as the same and framed Trump as under attack for 12 years.
