At 75, Joel Klein thrives as a balloon artist, creating joyful sculptures daily in his Tribeca neighborhood. Originally a magician performing for children, Klein's balloon creationsâranging from whimsical creatures to messages of kindnessâbecame a beloved sight outside his building. Influenced by an earlier scaffolding decor initiative, he started this art form five years ago to uplift the community. I started doing it about five years ago when the building was covered with scaffolding, to brighten things up... It's a hit with the neighborhood.
