WorldPride in Washington, DC, may advise against travel for trans individuals due to the new administration's anti-LGBTQ+ measures. Since taking office, President Trump has implemented policies that restrict the rights and healthcare options for trans people, leading to concerns about safety and inclusivity during the World Pride events in 2025. Capital Pride's Ryan Bos hinted at warning international trans individuals about potential risks. Activist Devon Ojeda emphasized the daily challenges faced by the community regarding safety in public spaces, stressing the importance of visibility and resilience despite adversities.
"It's possible that we may actually issue a statement telling trans folks internationally not to come, or if they come, they come at their own risk," Bos said.
"This is something that my community faces every day, is worrying whether or not this space is gonna be safe for them," said Devon Ojeda.
"I also am in the mindset of always continuing to be in these spaces - to say I am trans, I am visible. You're not going to take that away from me," Ojeda added.
