Naks brings traditional Filipino comfort food menu to the East Village | amNewYork
Briefly

Naks, a new culinary venture in East Village, specializes in authentic Filipino comfort food, headed by Chef Eric Valdez. With a background in high-end kitchens, Valdez aims to showcase traditional Filipino flavors inspired by his childhood. The menu features dishes like Inihaw na Liempo, Adobo Rice, Kare-Kare, and a dessert selection with Filipino twists. Valdez seeks to preserve the integrity of Filipino cuisine by avoiding Americanization, providing diners with an experience similar to what they would find in the Philippines. Naks represents a commitment to authentic regional Filipino food in a vibrant New York setting.
We're just focusing now on the dishes that I grew up eating, the dishes that I love eating every day, said Valdez. Mostly, the food that we're serving at Naks is like the original form of it. What you can see back home, this is the same food that we're serving at Naks.
I think the problem here in New York is that all food is Americanized, everything is diluted. It's like everything is adjusting to a certain palette... I want people to experience the food as it is meant to be.
