Outdoor movies return to the newly saved Elizabeth Street Garden
Briefly

Elizabeth Street Garden has been spared from demolition and will host free outdoor movies throughout the summer. The city has ceased plans for a senior housing complex, opting for alternative affordable housing locations. Movie nights began on June 25 and will feature a mix of whimsical and classic films, ending on August 20. In addition to movie nights, the garden offers programming such as yoga, tai chi, and poetry readings, cementing its role as a cultural and community space with nearly 200 years of history.
The beloved Nolita garden at Elizabeth Street celebrates its survival from demolition by offering free outdoor movie nights, featuring classics and cult hits.
The summer movie lineup includes whimsical films, starting on June 25 with 'The Secret World of Arrietty' and concluding on August 20 with 'The Royal Tenenbaums'.
Additional programming in the garden includes Saturday yoga, Sunday tai chi, and poetry hours, transforming the space into both a cultural venue and a relaxing escape.
Elizabeth Street Garden has a rich history, initially serving as a public school, and has become an oasis for the community over the past 200 years.
