BUSHWICK - BROOKLYN ART SONG SOCIETY has unveiled its 2025-26 season, starting on October 12 with all three Schubert song cycles. The lineup includes major compositions by Brahms, Janáček, Schoenberg, Messiaen, and Rorem, reflecting a commitment to classical music. Despite receiving news of the termination of its National Endowment for the Arts grant due to the Trump administration's policies, Artistic Director Michael Bronfman emphasized the importance of in-person artistic experiences. A New Voices Festival slated for April through June will also showcase innovative perspectives in music.
In times of crisis, BASS has always doubled down on our core belief: the experience of sharing something expressive face-to-face is not a luxury - it's a necessity.
The season will open Oct. 12 with all three Schubert song cycles and continues with works by Brahms, Janáček, Schoenberg, Messiaen, and Rorem.
The announcement follows the termination of BASS's National Endowment for the Arts grant, a fallout from the Trump administration's nationwide purge.
The New Voices Festival will be held from April through June, focusing on fresh perspectives in music.
