Governors Island, a transformed military base into a public park, is announcing its vibrant summertime programming in celebration of its 20th anniversary. Starting from May 23 to September 14, visitors can relish a variety of cultural events, including the NYC Lavender Festival on June 7-8, featuring hands-on workshops and harvesting lessons. Other highlights include the much-anticipated annual Jazz Age Lawn Party on June 14-15 and August 9-10, promising lively music and food delights. Additionally, the new Great Nosh Festival on June 22 will present an exciting mix of Jewish and prominent gastronomic offerings.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary of being open to the public, the trust for the island just announced its list of summertime programming, just in time for Memorial Day weekend.
On June 7 and June 8, the island will be hosting the NYC Lavender Festival, which will include demonstrations and workshops suitable for ages 12 and up.
One of the largest draws to the island is the annual Jazz Age Lawn Party, this year offering two chances to enjoy a 1920s-themed soirée.
The Great Nosh Festival, held on June 22, will feature a breadth of Jewish eateries alongside other culinary offerings, creating a delightful picnic experience.
