Ernie Anastos, an 82-year-old legendary NYC news anchor, died of pneumonia at Northern Westchester Hospital. His career spanned over 40 years covering major news events including Princess Diana's death, the September 11 attacks, and the COVID-19 pandemic. He earned more than 30 Emmy Awards and nominations, including a Lifetime Emmy and the Edward R. Murrow Award. Anastos worked at multiple networks including ABC 7, CBS 2, WWOR, and Fox 5 NY. He left Fox 5 around 2020 to attend Harvard Business School. Colleagues remembered him as compassionate, fair, and a heart of the newsroom. He was married to Kelly since 1968 and is survived by two children and four grandchildren.
