At All Hallows High School in the Bronx, three seniors rallied to save their last prom after many classmates couldn't afford the ticket price. Ethan Amaya led a fundraising initiative that successfully lowered costs to ensure all 82 seniors could celebrate together. The urgency stemmed from the school's impending closure, prompting Amaya to emphasize the importance of shared experiences for the graduating class. With inadequate ticket sales threatening the event, the students demonstrated resilience, ensuring a poignant end to their shared high school journey.
"I feel like we should have something special, a night to look back on," Amaya said, emphasizing the importance of closing their high school experience together as a class.
"Only 30 students had bought prom tickets - which was below the 40-person minimum needed to reserve the venue. There are 82 students in the senior class."
"This whole year has been very hard for everybody and it's just very important that we have this," Amaya added, highlighting the need for a memorable experience amidst challenges.
"I want all of us to experience prom as a senior class, because we came into the school as a senior class, and I want us to leave the school as a senior class."
