"Logan Airport is getting $2.8 million in federal funding to renovate play areas for children, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced on Monday. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is awarding $970 million to airports in 45 states for family-friendly projects through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act - Airport Terminal Program (ATP). In December, U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy asked airports to submit projects for consideration that would support family-friendly services, resulting in 133 grants."
"The Logan grant will fund upgrades to the airport's four free Kidports by creating new play structures and themes, according to the FAA. Logan's Kidports are located in Terminals A, B, and C. They are play areas that provide "a fun-filled space for little travelers and give parents and caregivers a place to unwind before or after a flight," according to the Massport website."
""This administration is focused on making travel happier and more convenient for American families," said U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy, in a statement. "We're making airports inviting spaces for parents and children to relax and recharge prior to boarding." Among other airports receiving funds, Mississippi's Tupelo Regional Airport is receiving $2 million for a family-friendly security screening lane; Dallas Ft. Worth International Airport is receiving $8 million for five family-friendly restrooms; and Palm Beach International Airport is receiving $10 million for new restrooms, mother's rooms, and a new sensory room for families."
""The FAA is moving quickly to get these investments out the door and into airports nationwide," said FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford, in a statement. "These projects will help create a more welcoming and accessible travel experience for families""
