"A parent's most sacred responsibility is ensuring the safety of their children. As alleged, this defendant chose to abandon that solemn duty when he inflicted life-threatening injuries on his 2-year-old son, Maliek, and then let him suffer."
"I fought for my son. I warned ACS, the courts, NYPD. Everybody. But now y'all can hear me? Now y'all can hear me?"
Dayvon Morrison, 30, has been indicted on two counts of murder following the death of his 2-year-old son, Maliek. The medical examiner ruled the death a homicide. Morrison was the sole caretaker when Maliek sustained fatal injuries. After hiding Maliek in a stroller, witnesses alerted authorities to the child's condition. Maliek was hospitalized with severe injuries and died two days later. His mother had previously warned authorities about Morrison's behavior. Morrison faces up to 25 years to life in prison if convicted.
