New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced that 8.2 million eligible households will receive inflation refund checks starting in October 2023. These direct payments, part of the state's $254 billion budget, aim to alleviate the rising cost of living. The amount varies based on income: individuals earning up to $75,000 will receive $200, and those earning between $75,000.01 and $150,000 will get $150. Recipients do not need to apply; checks will be mailed to eligible tax filers who have an adjusted gross income of $150,000 or less.
