On May Day, hundreds protested in Los Gatos against Trumpâs presidency with signs addressing key issues like immigration, wealth inequality, and reproductive rights. Organizer Marsha Palitz-Elliott aimed to create a space for community concerns, drawing an attendance of 250-300. Participant Kristine Kasten reflected on her past activism, emphasizing the ongoing need for advocacy in social justice. Citing threats to Social Security and healthcare by the Trump administration, Palitz-Elliott acknowledged the rally's relevance for the town's older population, highlighting the enduring impact of such political actions and policies.
Kasten said came to the May Day rally in support of labor unions, income equality and women's reproductive rights, which she fought for in the '60s and saw reversed in 2022.
Palitz-Elliott said many of the Trump administration's threats to Social Security, health care and immigration could affect Los Gatos residents.
