"His life is a powerful reminder of the extraordinary sacrifices made by our National Guard members, who balance their roles as citizens, first responders, and soldiers."
"His career was defined by service - to his country and to New York City. Our thoughts are with Officer Davius and his entire family as they mourn his loss. May his memory be a blessing."
Maj. Sorrfly Davius, a New York City police officer since 2014, died Friday from a medical episode at Camp Buehring in Kuwait while deployed with the 42nd Infantry Division. The division has been stationed in Kuwait since summer as part of regular rotations commanding Task Force Spartan, maintaining American presence in the region. Davius also served with Joint Task Force Empire Shield, providing security at high-profile New York locations including Penn Station.
