Brooklyn man convicted in string of hate crime attacks in Lower Manhattan
"A judge has convicted Skiboky Stora for a disturbing series of bias-driven attacks on unsuspecting New Yorkers. The victims were met with both violence and harassment simply because of who they are. Hate crimes strike at the core of our city's values and sense of safety, and I thank the hardworking prosecutors of our Hate Crimes Unit for presenting a rigorous case and securing this conviction."
"According to court documents, the first assault happened Sept. 20, 2023, in Chelsea. Stora elbowed a 17-year-old white student in the neck, stating, 'You people think you can do whatever the [expletive] you want.' A month later in the same neighborhood, Stora elbowed a 37-year-old 'fair-skinned' woman in the shoulder."
"In November, a Jewish couple, a 28-year-old man and woman, were walking their dog in Union Square when they noticed Stora tearing down posters of kidnapped Israeli hostages. He began following the couple, shouting anti-white and antisemitic remarks, including '[Expletive] you, white boy' and 'Die, Jews, Die!'"
Skiboky Stora, a 42-year-old Brooklyn man, was found guilty of stalking, harassing, and attacking strangers in a series of bias-driven incidents across Lower Manhattan. Between September 2023 and March 2024, Stora committed four documented attacks targeting white individuals, women, and Jewish people. His first assault occurred in Chelsea when he elbowed a 17-year-old white student. Subsequent incidents included attacking a fair-skinned woman, following and verbally harassing a Jewish couple while tearing down Israeli hostage posters, and striking a white woman in the head. New York State Supreme Court Judge Josh Hanshaft convicted Stora of multiple counts of assault, stalking, attempted assault as hate crimes, and aggravated harassment. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg emphasized that these hate crimes undermine the city's values and safety.
