New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli has implemented a new law allowing for quicker returns of unclaimed funds such as uncashed checks or unused gift cards. Starting in January, his Office of Unclaimed Funds began sending checks of $250 or less to those eligible. Additionally, the comptroller's staff is actively engaging in community outreach through workshops and events. For those unable to attend these sessions, individuals can access an online claiming system or call for assistance, as the office aims to return over $2 million in unclaimed funds each day.
