Lina Khan served as Chair of the Federal Trade Commission from 2021 until January and pursued an antitrust and consumer protection agenda. FTC actions during that period included investigating Amazon Prime and suing to block a Meta acquisition. City-level authority is geographically limited but can have substantial local impact.
