Rep. Nancy Mace filed a resolution to expel Rep. LaMonica McIver after she was charged with assaulting law enforcement outside an immigration detention center. Mace condemned McIver's actions, stating that she attacked those who enforce the law. She argued that had any citizen committed such an act, they would face severe consequences, emphasizing that being a congress member does not exempt her from accountability. McIver faces felony charges for interfering with federal agents during a protest at the Delaney Hall detention center in Newark, as reported by U.S. District Attorney Alina Habba.
On May 9th, McIver didn't just break the law, she attacked the very people who defend it. Attacking Homeland Security and ICE agents isn't just disgraceful, it's assault.
If any other American did what she did, they'd be in handcuffs. McIver thinks being a Member of Congress puts her above the law. It doesn't.
She should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Rep. LaMonica McIver was charged by NJ acting US Attorney Alina Habba, accusing her of using force to interfere with federal agents.
